Leeds Beckett University
Leeds Business School at Leeds Beckett University has over 5,000 students studying a range of academic and applied higher education programmes. It is based in the prestigious Rose Bowl building in the heart of Leeds’ thriving financial and business district.
The School’s focus is to develop an enabling environment that supports our staff to deliver tangible benefits based around our key research themes that focus on Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) engagement; the use of innovative approaches to engage with industry sectors to stimulate demand for knowledge and skills; encourage inclusive and ethical approaches to leadership and management and equip our learners with the skills required for successful labour market transition and innovation in the work-place.
Our research centres include the Retail Institute, the UK’s only academic research centre that leads consumer experiences of the future in retail, food and packaging; the Independent Food and Drink Academy promoting university-business collaboration and peer-peer learning amongst small businesses in the Leeds City Region and the Leadership Centre that delivers and accredits a range of professional body awards associated with coaching and leadership. In 2016, Leeds Business School received the Small Business Charter Award having demonstrated a valuable and continual contribution to enterprise and support to SMEs.
The School’s research strengths lie in the development of knowledge that is relevant to policy and practice. It helps businesses to innovate and grow and address the attendant leadership and management challenges; assists government bodies at national, regional and local level to develop and implement better policies and public services, helps third sector bodies enhance their contribution to delivering public value; and supports communities to become stronger and more confident. It has a strong track record of international collaboration and cooperation through, for example, coordination and participation in a range of European structural and investment programmes.
