Leeds Beckett University is one of the core partners of the FAME project participating in both research and training material development and has an important role in the dissemination activities in national and European level as well.

Leeds Beckett University - Introduction

Leeds Beckett University (LBU) is a higher education institution that provides access to education for a wide range of learners, promoting cultural awareness and diversity through our curriculum. LBU has almost 30,000 students, 3,000 staff and 300,000 associate students through our network of partner colleges. Our University is located on two main campuses; one in Leeds city centre and one in Headingley, Leeds and offers a range of undergraduate and post-graduate courses across four faculties - the Faculty of Arts, Environment & Technology, Faculty of Business & Law, Carnegie Faculty, and the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences. We were recognised in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework as having world-class research in all of our faculties.

LBU provides diverse undergraduate and postgraduate professional qualifying award programmes in cooperation with national statutory professional bodies and employers. Our research Institutes and Centres provide the environment for growing a research culture, demonstrating our expertise of international excellence from across the University. This collaborative approach helps us to provide solutions to important issues of a modern society. We have a longstanding interest in the development and competitiveness of SMEs and knowledge exchange between higher education and industry and LBU have contributed to the development of national and regional policy through our professional networks and research commissioned by a variety of organisational including the European Commission, various National Government Departments, Local Authorities and Third Sector organisations.

LBU has extensive experience in developing and managing European projects in a variety of policy areas. Dr David Devins has a longstanding research interest in the development of SMEs which has been used to inform the design and development of leadership and management programmes. Recent projects include Work-based learning as an integrated curriculum (WBLIC), Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Deliberative Engagement(SME-DE) and the Intergenerational Succession in SMEs Transition (INSIST). Dr Brian Jones teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertakes research in the area of enterprise, entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial marketing and social media.
